Upload Videos
Upload your videos to Glambot Studio to associate them with your participants and share them.

Upload Process
Desktop App Upload
When using the Desktop app:
- Processing: Desktop app transcodes and optimizes videos
- Upload: Processed videos are automatically uploaded to cloud
- Storage: Videos are stored and ready to share
- Availability: Videos immediately available in your project
The cloud platform does not perform any video processing. All transcoding and optimization happens in the Desktop app before upload.
Manual Upload Process
When uploading manually from the cloud:
- Selection: Choose MP4 files with H.264/H.265 codec
- Upload: File is transferred to the cloud storage
- Validation: System verifies format and codec compatibility
- Availability: Video is ready to use immediately
Upload Progress

Video Information
File Metadata
When a video is uploaded, the following information is automatically extracted from the file:
| Information | Source |
|---|---|
| Name | Filename |
| Size | File size in bytes |
| Creation Time | File creation timestamp (ctime) |
| Modification Time | File modification timestamp (mtime) |
Only basic file system information is extracted. The video name cannot be modified after upload - it remains as the original filename.
Troubleshooting
Upload Fails
Possible Causes:
- Invalid video format (not MP4)
- Unsupported codec (not H.264 or H.265)
- File is corrupted
- Network connection issue
Solutions:
- Verify the file is MP4 with H.264 or H.265 codec
- Test the video file locally to ensure it plays
- Check your internet connection
- Try uploading a different file to test
Slow Upload
Causes:
- Slow internet connection
- Large file size
- Network congestion
Solutions:
- Check your upload speed
- Consider using the Desktop app for automatic optimization
- Upload during off-peak hours
- Compress the file if possible (using Desktop app)
Format Not Supported
Cause: Video is not MP4 or uses unsupported codec.
Solutions:
- Use the Desktop app which handles format conversion automatically
- Convert to MP4 with H.264 codec using a tool like HandBrake
- Ensure the video uses H.264 or H.265 codec
Upload Interrupted
Cause: Network connection lost during upload.
Solution:
- Check your internet connection
- Restart the upload
- For large files, use the Desktop app which handles interruptions better
Best Practices
Before Upload
- Verify Format: Ensure files are MP4 with H.264/H.265
- Test Locally: Play the video to confirm it's not corrupted
- Use Descriptive Names: Filename becomes the video name (cannot be changed)
File Naming
Since video names cannot be modified after upload, use clear filenames:
- Good:
John_Doe_Wedding_2024.mp4 - Bad:
VID_20240101_123456.mp4
Recommended naming convention: Participant_Event_Date.mp4
Upload Method
Use Desktop App when:
- Processing many videos
- Need transcoding and optimization
- Want automated upload workflow
- Working with non-MP4 formats
Use Manual Upload when:
- Files are already in MP4 H.264/H.265 format
- Uploading just a few videos
- Don't have Desktop app access
Storage Management
- Keep Originals: Maintain local backup of source files
- Verify Upload: Confirm videos appear in cloud before deleting local copies
- Monitor Storage: Track your plan's storage limits
Connection Requirements
Upload Speed
| Connection Speed | Time for 1 GB |
|---|---|
| 10 Mbps | ~15 minutes |
| 50 Mbps | ~3 minutes |
| 100 Mbps | ~1.5 minutes |
| 1 Gbps | ~10 seconds |
For large files or many videos, a faster internet connection significantly reduces upload time. The Desktop app's automated upload works in the background.
